Armaments Cooperation Specialist

About the Position: The incumbent serves as an Armaments Cooperation Specialist located in the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC), U.S. Embassy, London, United Kingdom.


  • Serves as an Armaments Cooperation Specialist located in the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC), U.S. Embassy, London United Kingdom with primary responsibility for defense cooperation in armaments (DCA) activities.
  • Represents the U.S. Government in dealing with foreign governments, foreign and domestic industry, and other U.S. Government agencies.
  • Supports programs with senior officials in the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD), military services, and industry.
  • Provides guidance to U.S. industry, the UK Military of Defense (MOD), British Services, and UK industry on U.S. Government policy and procedures.
  • Provides support to U.S. and UK officials negotiating agreements and participating in meetings and conferences.
  • Conducts seminars (government and industry) intended to explain acquisition practices.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Managing a program in the field of bilateral/multilateral defense cooperation, such as acquisition, research, and/or development; 2) Advising the U.S. Government and/or host nation ministries and/or industries on country specific acquisition requirements, such as legislation, procedures and/or policies; AND 3) As a liaison, coordinating and facilitating bilateral/multilateral project agreements and/or information exchange. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Acquisition Strategy Administration and Management Communications and Media Project Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-???????13).
